WHAT IS A FOOD SUPPLEMENT?

Food supplements are foodstuffs whose purpose is to complete a healthy diet and which constitute a concentrated supply of nutrients (minerals, vitamins) and other natural elements with a nutritional or physiological effect.
Presented in the form of tablets, capsules, pastilles, ampoules or powder sachets, they can be made from plants or plant extracts.

FOOD SUPPLEMENTS AND SPORT

Today, nutritional supplementation is a key stage in the physical preparation of sportsmen and women, particularly for performance optimisation and prevention.
It offers a means of improving the nutritional quality of the diet and must be carefully integrated into a healthy and balanced diet in order to meet the specific needs of the body. Food supplements are neither medicines nor doping products, and their composition is highly regulated.
According to the law, athletes are responsible for the substances found in their bodies, regardless of their origin (food, medication, local application, etc.).
It is therefore essential that they can be certain that the products they consume are in full compliance with the regulations in force concerning the list of doping products.

THE WORLD ANTI-DOPING CODE AND THE RISK OF ACCIDENTAL DOPING

Athletes must ensure that the medicines and/or food supplements they take do not contain any prohibited substances and will always be held responsible in the event of a test.
The risk of consuming a food supplement containing a prohibited product is small, but nevertheless very real. Only the AFNOR NF 94001 standard can certify the absence of prohibited substances in food supplements intended for sportsmen and women.

PRODUCTS THAT COMPLY WITH THE AFNOR NF V94-001 ANTI-DOPING STANDARD

The AFNOR NF V 94-001 standard, drawn up at the request of the Ministry of Sports in 2012 to enable athletes to know which supplements or foodstuffs do not contain doping substances and thus to promote the good practices of manufacturers, has now become a reference in the fight against doping.
To meet its specifications, the development and manufacture of food supplements and other foodstuffs intended for athletes must be rigorously free of the various prohibited substances listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency. The AFNOR NF V 94-001 standard also formalises the commitment of suppliers of raw materials and provides a framework for regular random checks on finished products to avoid any intentional or accidental contamination.

By adopting this standard, ERIC FAVRE undertakes to guarantee the composition of its food supplements and the absence of prohibited substances that could lead to a positive anti-doping test.
The NF V 94-001 label on the packaging of our products makes it easy to identify food supplements that are free of doping substances.
