\r\n Amalgams and diuretics\r\n <\/h2>\r\n

\r\n Beware of amalgams! Diuretics are often controversial, especially in the \r\n case of doping, and have a bad reputation. They are often said to be \r\n dangerous, sometimes banned because they are wrongly confused with \r\n diuretic drugs sold only on prescription. This is not the case with \r\n so-called "natural" herbal products, which are traditionally used in \r\n many pharmacopoeias and have no side effects.\r\n <\/p>\r\n

\r\n Diuretic drugs prescribed by doctors mainly in response to heart \r\n problems, high blood pressure or oedema have many contraindications and \r\n side effects, especially related to electrolyte loss, and are not for \r\n "healthy" people. Some are, however, prescribed and used as "masking \r\n agents", to excrete illicit products that may have passed into the urine \r\n or bloodstream more quickly.\r\n <\/p>\r\n

\r\n The increase in urine volume will decrease the concentration of \r\n prohibited substances to such an extent that detection by analytical \r\n methods becomes impossible because they are below the detection \r\n thresholds. It can also change the pH of the urine, making it more \r\n acidic, which makes it much more difficult to detect doping products.\r\n <\/p>\r\n

\r\n Diuretics increase urine volume\r\n <\/h2>\r\n

\r\n Diuretics, whether natural or not, stimulate urinary excretion. In other \r\n words, they increase the volume of urine, and therefore make the water \r\n leave the body, subcutaneously. This makes it easier to understand why \r\n they are used to cut, lose weight or have more defined muscles.\r\n <\/p>\r\n

\r\n However, one should not confuse medicines with plants with a diuretic \r\n and draining action, present in certain food supplements, whose \r\n properties are recognised and have been traditionally used for centuries\r\n <\/p>\r\n

\r\n SOLUTIONS EXIST\r\n <\/h2>\r\n

\r\n These plants will favour the elimination of water by similar mechanisms \r\n but with a much less important and\/or complementary loss of \r\n electrolytes, by favouring in particular the venous & lymphatic \r\n circulation, which will allow a loss of water in a homogeneous way and \r\n on the whole of the fabrics.
