This \r\n      &quot;superfruit&quot; with anti-oxidant properties is rich in polysaccharides, \r\n      trace elements (selenium, calcium) and vitamins (vitamins B, C and beta \r\n      carotene), thus explaining its growing presence on the food supplement \r\n      market.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <p>\r\n      It is now widely known for its multiple actions, notably on oxidative \r\n      stress, the nervous system, high blood pressure and other unsuspected \r\n      virtues.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <p>\r\n      Focus on the 7 medicinal virtues of this <strong>super food<\/strong>, the Goji berry\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <h2>\r\n      Anti-aging action\r\n    <\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      During the ageing process, a pro\/antioxidant imbalance progressively \r\n      sets in within the body, which can lead in the long term to numerous \r\n      pathologies such as cancers or neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, \r\n      Parkinson's) 1.<br>The active ingredient in the goji berry helps to \r\n      restore the body's antioxidant capacities, which are altered with age. \r\n      This is thanks to the stimulation of antioxidant enzymes which enable us \r\n      to fight against oxidative stress on the one hand, but also against \r\n      certain age-related diseases! 2,3.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <h2>\r\n      Prevents cardiovascular disease and blood pressure\r\n    <\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      Diabetes and cholesterol are two major risk factors for cardiovascular \r\n      disease. A study carried out on 37 diabetic subjects showed that the \r\n      consumption of Goji berry capsules twice a day for 3 consecutive months \r\n      reduced glycaemia and insulin levels and improved glucose tolerance 4. \r\n      In addition, Goji berries improve the lipid profile, notably by lowering \r\n      total cholesterol and triglycerides and increasing levels of \r\n      cardioprotective &quot;good cholesterol&quot; (HDL-cholesterol) 5,6. Finally, the \r\n      consumption of Goji berries reduces blood pressure and thus limits the \r\n      risk of high blood pressure, thus conferring cardioprotective properties \r\n      to these fruits 7.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <h2>\r\n      Strengthens the immune system\r\n    <\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      Goji berries have immune system stimulating properties: they promote the \r\n      synthesis and activation of immune cells such as T cells and the \r\n      production of cytokines, inflammatory proteins that contribute to the \r\n      immune system 8,9,10. Thus, the consumption of Goji berries strengthens \r\n      the immune system and allows for a better fight against diseases.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <h2>\r\n      Protects against male infertility\r\n    <\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      With age and due to certain pathologies such as diabetes, erectile \r\n      dysfunction and fertility problems can occur. Consuming these berries \r\n      not only increases sperm quality and libido, but also protects against \r\n      decreased sperm production through its antioxidant properties11,12. \r\n      Consumption of Goji berries could therefore also prevent, or at least \r\n      mitigate, male infertility.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <h2>\r\n      Preserves visual acuity\r\n    <\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      As we age, the cones of the eye, which are components of the retina that \r\n      allow us to perceive colours, deteriorate. This leads to a decrease in \r\n      visual acuity, which is a widespread problem that considerably reduces \r\n      quality of life.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <p>\r\n      The beta carotene in Goji is a precursor of vitamin A, which is known to \r\n      improve vision. Consuming several berries a day can limit the \r\n      degeneration of the cones of the eye and thus delay the onset of vision \r\n      diseases such as retinitis. 13\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <h2>\r\n      Helps maintain healthy skin\r\n    <\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      Thanks to its anti-oxidant properties, Goji berries reduce the skin \r\n      damage caused by various stresses on a daily basis. In fact, drinking \r\n      Goji juice on a daily basis protects the skin from UV radiation 14 and \r\n      increases the survival of cells in response to mechanical stress \r\n      (friction, cold, sweat. . . ) 15. Goji therefore helps to preserve a \r\n      healthy, resistant and healthy skin without brown spots!\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <h2>\r\n      Protects the nervous system\r\n    <\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      Studies carried out on sportsmen have shown that the consumption of Goji \r\n      gives a feeling of well-being, reduces fatigue and improves endurance \r\n      and sports performance16. Goji is therefore a medicinal plant with \r\n      innumerable virtues, modulating many physiological processes. But it \r\n      also has some side effects such as the risk of developing \r\n      photosensitivity, particularly in people who are allergic to solanaceous \r\n      plants (tomatoes, potatoes, aubergines, peppers, etc. ). So how should \r\n      they be consumed? At what dose? And in what form? - Goji berries: most \r\n      goji berries that can be found in Asian grocery shops or supermarkets \r\n      contain high levels of pesticides. It is therefore preferable to consume \r\n      organic Goji berries in courses of 2 to 3 months twice a year at a dose \r\n      of 20 to 30g per day. - Goji juice: It is possible to find Goji juice, \r\n      which has the advantage of being preservative-free and unpasteurised \r\n      (not irradiated). However, the daily portion depends on the \r\n      concentration of Goji in the juice. - Food supplements: many Goji \r\n      capsules are currently on the market. The daily intake also varies here, \r\n      depending on the concentration of the product. Goji is thus part of the \r\n      family of medicinal plants that has been widely studied. It is an \r\n      important source of active ingredients with antioxidant properties.
