DRAINERS NUTRITION

What is the use of a drainer ?

A drainer is an active ingredient or food supplement whose aim is to promote the renal elimination of water. Women are particularly fond of them, as they suffer more from swelling problems due to water retention than men, who do not generally suffer from hormonal variations. The slimming drainer allows, by increasing diuresis, to fight effectively against oedemas, swellings and pre-menstrual or post-menopausal weight gain.

What causes water retention?

Various factors can influence the phenomenon of water retention. Consumption of sugar, alcohol, estrogen-progesterone, pre-menstrual syndrome, menopause or corticosteroid treatments are all factors that favour weight gain due to water retention, or hydro-sodium retention. Also, food additives such as potassium sorbate or sodium benzoate can present, in high concentrations, a danger to the body's electrolyte balance.

How to eat to drain the body naturally?

The first thing to do to limit water retention is to eat less high glycemic index carbohydrates such as rice, pasta, bread and sugars. Each gram of glucose absorbed retains up to 8g of water with it!
Secondly, avoid saturated and trans fats, which come from fried foods and are present in most processed foods. Prepare what you eat yourself.
Try to choose organically grown foods. They contain fewer pesticides, preservatives and more nutrients than mass market products.
Definitely adopt a varied and balanced diet that helps eliminate toxins, keeps you fit and allows you to overindulge without guilt.
Choose proteins, fibres and good fats, and limit carbohydrates to 150g per day. Drink green tea or meadowsweet tea between meals.

The importance of hydration

Drinking is the best antidote to water retention. Many women reduce their water intake thinking that they will retain less water. The opposite is true. The body, in response to dehydration, puts all the survival mechanisms into action so that the body stays hydrated...and keeps the water out! The body is 60% water, and circulates in an open circuit. So you have to drink all the time to stay properly hydrated, and drink even more to promote renal elimination. As you can see, the more you drink, the more you eliminate.

How to use a drainer?

Most drainers contain active ingredients such as meadowsweet, dandelion or green tea, a slimming draining ingredient that is found in most weight loss supplements.
If your drainer is liquid, dilute it in a bottle of mineral water and drink it throughout the day. If you have chosen a slimming drainer in capsules or tablets, take them in the morning with a large glass of water, then 30 minutes before each main meal, always with a large glass of water.
In any case, your drainer is intended to improve the body's elimination functions. Help it by drinking more and by adopting a varied and balanced diet.

Some precautions

If your drainer contains caffeine, do not take it after 3pm. Drains are not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Keep out of reach of children.

Although drainers are made from natural ingredients, remember that they are food supplements and should not be used by children.
