The Keys To An Effective Detox

by damien

"Detox", here is a word you are regularly confronted with after these end of year celebrations! There can be several interests in embarking on a detox diet: Lose weight, Purify and revitalize your body, and give it new energy.

Whatever the objective, the principle will remain the same. Our body is in constant contact with different toxins which can then accumulate little by little in our body and clog it up.

Thus, for the sportsman, amateur or pro, this can appear during periods of training and/or long and intense competitions where the production of "metabolic waste" is very important and chronic, when the physiological recovery phases are shortened, during periods of non-adapted food such as festive periods (Christmas, Easter, holidays. . . ) corresponding to a generally more voluminous and caloric food, rich in fats and sugars where the liver is subjected to an "exaggerated" work favouring its clogging.

WHAT IS THE PRINCIPLE OF THE DETOX DIET?

Our organism plays a natural role of elimination and several organs of our body play a major role in this process: the liver, the intestines, the kidneys, as well as the lungs and the skin

When our organs are no longer able to break down all the waste, it may be useful to consider a detox diet to help our body get rid of the toxic substances it accumulates and which hinder its proper functioning. The principle is to modify our consumption habits and lifestyle for a certain period of time to help the body focus on eliminating accumulated toxins.

To help our body, it will be necessary to promote the elimination of water and toxins, promote renal elimination, strengthen the balance of the intestinal ecosystem and fight against oxidative stress.

OUR ADVICE FOR A SUCCESSFUL DIET:

Stay hydrated

To encourage the elimination of toxins, the first reflex is of course to drink a lot of water, at least 1. 5 litres a day. You can also drink draining drinks, green tea, infusions, vegetable broths, smoothies. . .

Fill up on fruit and vegetables

Follow the recommendations of the PNNS (National Health Nutrition Programme) and increase your fruit and vegetable intake. To reach 5 fruits or vegetables per day, vary the forms: fruit juices, smoothies, raw vegetables, cooked vegetables, soups, compotes. . .

Keep an eye on the glycaemic index

Prefer foods with a low glycaemic index to help your body assimilate nutrients. > Take the time to chew well: to facilitate the digestion and absorption process.

Eat "raw"

suppress processed industrial food and ready-made meals. > Favour certain foods : favouring elimination, rich in fibre and anti-oxidant: Tamarind, burdock, dandelion, nettle, artichoke, parsley, asparagus, beetroot, carrot, celery, cabbage, pineapple, apple, spinach. . .

Promote sweating

sauna, hammam. . . to help your body eliminate.

Avoid excess

reduce your alcohol and tobacco consumption as much as possible if you smoke.

Give yourself a helping hand

by combining food supplements to activate this detoxification.
