Stress and Pressure

Stomach ache, palpitations, lack of oxygen, or even sweating. . .

We have all felt this before an exam, a competition or a speech. From the moment we feel pressure, stress, all these symptoms appear suddenly and can make us lose all our means.

POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE PRESSURE?

Mismanaged pressure can be devastating to the point of preventing us from thinking and expressing ourselves properly. We even see sportsmen and women being physically diminished to a great extent. Controlled pressure can instead help you achieve exceptional things, creating energy that you can tap into at the right time.

HOW TO DEAL WITH STRESS

  • Focus on your breathing by clearing your mind. Do this exercise whenever you feel a little too much tension in you, even if it only lasts a minute.
  • The most important thing is to de-dramatise the situation. Take a moment and imagine the greatness, the immensity of the universe and at that moment place yourself in this infinite expanse. You will realise how insignificant the object of your stress is.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF TO CONTROL THE PRESSURE ON YOUR SHOULDERS

The only thing that really matters is not what people think of you, but rather what you think of yourself.

"Who lacks self-confidence is constantly at the mercy of others' opinions" Denis st-pierre
.

It is your belief in your abilities that will keep you going in the face of tough challenges.

"A defect that prevents men from acting is not feeling what they are capable of" Jacques-BĂ©nigne Bossuet

WORK INCREASES CONFIDENCE

The best way to increase your self-confidence is to train to be ready on the day. A boxer who gets into the ring thinking that the work done during his preparation is poor, will not be able to have full confidence. But if a boxer goes into the ring knowing that he has done all the work necessary, both in quantity and quality, he will have built up confidence throughout his preparation which he will be able to exploit.

"Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. "Thomas Edison

LEARN TO DISCONNECT

  • Look for ways to disconnect from your work, go for a walk by the sea, to the mountains, read books etc. . . Do things that you enjoy and that give you energy.
  • Take time to listen to your breathing , to relax and loosen up your muscles.
  • When you are training(whether physical or mental) give it 100% and when you are having a good time give it 100%.
  • Live and enjoy the present moment, for otherwise you will always be looking for happiness without ever living it. You will always be between the past and the future wondering.

"The future torments us, the past holds us back, that's why the present escapes us" - Gustave Flaubert

YOU WILL NEVER BE PERFECT

  • Don't waste your time trying to achieve perfection, you will never get there, it will only serve to increase your stress. You will always make mistakes no matter what you do.
  • Keep on working to do as little as possible but to never do nothing.
  • Your goal must be to become the most perfect in your imperfection.

"I've missed 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I was trusted to take the winning shot and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that's why I succeed. " Michael Jordan
