Detox And The Benefits Of Blackcurrant

by damien

It was the former mayor of Dijon, Canon Kir, who immortalised the aperitif combination of white Burgundy wine and crème de cassis (a liqueur made from the red fruits of the blackcurrant bush).

He used to drink it before every meal to cure his rheumatism, he claimed. And now this aperitif, originally intended as a therapeutic drink (at least, that's what this jovial clergyman proclaimed loud and clear!), is today displayed: under the name of "Kir" and has become very popular.

However blackcurrant remains one of the essential plants used in detox.
