Elderberry and its benefits in a Detox

Elderberry has effective diuretic and depurative functions which are precious in a detox protocol.

Several archaeological sites in Switzerland and Northern Italy have revealed that people have been eating elderberries since the Stone Age, in the Palaeolithic period, which shows the early interest in these fruits.

The therapeutic virtues of black elderberries were already well known at the time of Hippocrates, in the 4th century BC, since they were already prescribed to dispel bile and pituitary (to use Hippocrates' terms), a mucusy liquid that certain obese and congested patients coughed up in the morning when they got up ...people who were eminently concerned by a DETOX.

Later, in the Middle Ages, Saint Hildegard advised these same elderberries against jaundice, in case of gout and as a laxative.

This last property is underlined by this pictorial quotation from Doctor Lecoq in 1895: "Elderberries produce abundant and easy evacuations, without colic or fatigue." The term "evacuation" illustrates well the contemporary term of DETOX.

The word elderberry (Sambucus nigra) is derived from the Greeksambuke, which is the name of a plucked musical instrument, a kind of harp from ancient times (known to us as a sambuca).

It is traditional to use elder wood to make flutes because it is a soft wood that can be easily drilled to make the holes and from which the abundant, white central pith can be easily removed.

The elder is a 4 to 5 metre high shrub (which can reach up to 10 metres) common in the hedges of our countryside, at the edge of the paths.

It is divided into numerous branches with yellow bark bearing oval, toothed leaves and creamy white, fragrant flowers grouped in umbels.

These flowers give rise to characteristic fruits: spherical berries of 5 to 6 mm which are initially green in colour before turning black (tinged with purplish) when they reach maturity. It is these berries that concentrate most of the active components of elderberry.

Green tea, L-Carnitine in a natural way

Green tea is considered one of the best fat burners, and for good reason, it does not risk impacting the muscles. It contains a lot of virtues such as the amino acids lysine. The latter play an important role in the functioning of the immune system; but also, in cohesion with other amino acids, in the synthesis of proteins and the manufacture of muscle cells.
