Proline is one of the 22 amino acids proteinogens. Non-essential it is synthesised naturally in the liver (from L-glutamate or L-ornithine). It is a constituent of Collagen*

ITS ROLE

  • Essential for collagen synthesis
  • Strengthens the phanera (hair, nails, skin)
  • Protects connective tissue (bones, ligaments, tendons)
  • Stimulates the production of specific collagens used in arterial walls.
  • Helps fight atherosclerosis
  • Precursor of hydroxyproline**
  • Stimulates wound healing
  • Contributes to the proper functioning of the heart

THERAPEUTIC USES

To combat atherosclerotic plaque Linus PAULING (Nobel Prize winner) recommended a daily intake of 5 g of vitamin C and at least 3 grams of each of the amino acids Lysine and Proline. The work of Dr Mathias RATH has confirmed the intuitions of L. PAULING
